Matt Ishler Principal 360-273-5534 | Rochester High School, Home of the Warriors! SPIRIT OF THE WARRIOR Webster defines a warrior as someone skilled in combat or warfare. At Rochester High School being a Warrior requires more. I have witnessed this from our staff and parents, but most of all, our students. Consider the following: State Board of Education Rates RHS as a “Very Good” School The State Board of Education rates schools annually based on student achievement in reading, writing, math, science, and graduation rate. This year, RHS is one of only 8 schools to earn a score of “Very Good” or “Exemplary” out of over 40 high schools in ESD 113. For more information, a link to the Achievement Index can be found on the State Board of Education website at: www.sbe.wa.gov Students Tackle Bullying As adults at all schools try to reduce and eliminate bullying, students at RHS took matters into their own hands. The students of RHS thought of, created, and participated in “Be Awesome Instead” week, wearing t-shirts, creating signs, and taking part in an assembly and leadership activities all focused on raising awareness and reducing bullying and harassment at their school. Warrior March Into the Playoffs For the first time in over five years, both boys and girls basketball teams will be participating in the district playoffs, joining over 20 wrestlers who will also be competing in the post-season for a chance to move on to state. The hard work put in by these student-athletes shows in their performance and their sportsmanship. When asked, the students themselves explain that being a Warrior is something to aspire to. It is a standard of conduct, work ethic, and performance. To truly be a Warrior requires effort, growth, and acceptance of others. It requires determination, and also leadership. Whether it is academic performance, athletic performance, or leadership as citizens of the school community, we are proud of our students at RHS. Their leadership shows us theSpirit of the Warrior is alive and well at Rochester High School.
