Right to Translation

Translation services for schools, staff, and students are provided within the Rochester School District. We will make every effort to provide translation of written documents across the district as well as those documents specific to individual schools for students. While the focus of translation services in our district is with the highest in demand languages for ours schools; Spanish, every effort will be made to accommodate any translation request.

Federal regulations require all critical communication with families be conducted in both English and the home language. For those languages in which we do not have translations, we are to make a sincere effort to provide oral and written communication in the home language.

The Rochester School District has several on-site, trained, bilingual interpreters that are available during regular school hours, and with scheduling, can be made available after hours for meetings, conferences, IEP’s, parent nights, etc. The job of a Bilingual Interpreter is established for the purpose/s of facilitating successful communication of English Learners (EL) families; providing for student and family translating needs; partnering with community organizations/agencies, assessing students, and assisting with their instructional needs.

Rochester School District utilizes, "CTS LanguageLink", to provide immediate interpretive services. Parents may request the use of LanguageLink by calling any of our schools.
